German reins are longer than regular reins. They start from the girth, pass through the rings of the bit and come up in your hand.
The reins will slide through the rings of the bit depending on the length the rider leaves or if the horse moves his head.
It is important to install them properly because they will determine the level of neck rise of your horse. Indeed, the German reins are only tightened if the horse raises its neck above a point you have chosen.
Be careful not to lock your horse in by overly shortening your German reins.
